Lovin' Lewis

“She generally gave herself very good advice, (though she very seldom followed it)”

“I can't go back to yesterday - because I was a different person then”

“The rule is, jam tomorrow and jam yesterday - but never jam today.”
“Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?”

“I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, because I'm not myself, you see”

“Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

“He was part of my dream, of course - but then I was part of his dream too.”

“If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.”

“That's the reason they're called lessons, because they lesson from day to day.”

All pictures  - Lewis Carroll, doctored by me in PowerPoint....it's the only program I can use! They are tad trad, but I still love them.

Hair

It takes a lot of careful grooming to get your hair this beautifully messy. I've spent the best part of ten years looking for a hairdresser who creates this type of natural but not boring colour and is happy to let me leave my hair with much loved messy ends. If this is your bag too I can't recommend Paul and Mark at Whites highly enough.... http://www.whitesofwhitecross.com/

Mercedes Helnwein

Don't think I really need to say much about these by Mercedes Helnwein - simply lovely!

Like me...but on a good day (1 & 2)

Weekend fun??

A pillow at Hillier's House

Coloured in anyone?  - Picture Credit - http://www.cucumbersome.com/toile-de-jouy/
Toiles de Jouy normally right off my favor radar, however I've seen a few things thing week which have seen me warming too them. The first was a review of Sarah Grant's new book in this months WOI...which is now winging it's way to me from Amazon. The second was seeing the embroidered pillow (pictured above) at my friend Hillier's house, I think she said she bought it at Jonathan Adler, but that doesn't seem right! And, when I had a bit of a google to try and find out where it might be from, I spotted this highlightered cushion at  http://www.cucumbersome.com/toile-de-jouy/. I think I've just found my weekend project! If it goes well I will post the results, if not the less said the better.

Spooky Moon

I've not got any curtains or blinds up at my windows and the moon has been keeping me awake this week. I popped my head and the window last night and took this. Magical stuff.

Happy Birthday Darling x x x x

It's a shame St John only had Eccles cake on offer, I think this is much more your thing!

Remains of the big day

A smell for sore souls

A site for sore eyes
I came in last night through the back gate, only to be reminded of the two Christmas tree waiting to be burnt and their WONDERFUL smell,  it was fab. The hols felt like ages gone at that point; and then, as I crawled to bed I saw another bit of 'cheer' I've forgot to clear out - the mistletoe above the bed! I might just leave that there a bit longer until my boyfriend is next down at least.

Pictorial ode to the Galway

Town - at the NPG

Country- at home, under the stairs
I don't know what I would have done without these Dubarry beauties over the past six months. From town to country, I've not been too a place yet where these don't storm it. They were originally part of a deal with my boyfriend - "I will move to Cumbria if you ensure I have waiting for me...(insert a long list of desirables.)" But a friend, the marvellous Ian, thought this was so amusing he bought me something off the list - these. THANKS IAN! http://www.dubarryboots.com/DubarryGalwayWaterproofLeatherBoot.php

A very graphic Shepherd

These beauties are knitted by my lovely friend Gemma. I can't recommend them highly enough, get one whilst it's still cold enough out to wear it. Super soft ! Mega...I love this stuff.... www.shepherdengland.com

Order room service and stay in bed

Welcome x x

I think this is the only time I've seen him with his head in the FT, it's normally Vanity Fair.

I LOVE a bath me...and managed not to flash my tits too, marvellous!

The fool has popped his back out, by eating chocs and drinking beer, so this is how he has to do his laces up.
I did offer to help in the end.

Bye Bye!!
I had a lovely weekend at The Rookery in Clerkenwell. We've stayed here a few times now and I must be starting feel at home as I popped down stairs to pick DVD's in my PJ's and bare feet on Friday night. http://www.rookeryhotel.com/

Going Going Gone

I sadly had to say goodbye to my lovely boyfriend for another two weeks, as he trains it up to Cumbria and me down to Somerset. Bye to the moment my lovelyx x x

Kiki's bear

I was lucky enough to be paid a visit by the three week old Kiki Anderson the other day, so thought I would whizz up a homemade bear for her. I was a bit concerned that it was a bit dark and grown up for a baby, but I shouldn't have worried...Kiki is the only baby girl I've ever seen who is too cool for frills, and this odd thing kind of suited her. I should have got a picture of her with it...but I'd had a few beers and forgot. Whoops.

Fagins

I only left my pad twice in two weeks over Christmas and one of those trip sout was for a mootch about Fagins Antiques. If you are ever down south in the Westcountry a stop by here is a must. If you are after an 10ft kitchen table, a stuffed Panda and vintage shop fittings this could be the spot for you. We had our eye on these the vintage gym and the ship pics, which are a tad Life Aquatic. Sorry for the predictable ubiquitous stuffed heads, but I thought they were too lovely not to drop in. As I say a visit here is a must, it's not far off the M5, near Exeter. http://www.faginsantiques.com/

The Fastest Rat Catcher in the North

This little beauty is Dixie Dog...who is one hell of a beast and, as the title suggests, has been named the 'Fastest Ratter Ever Know ' by the vermin man. Little Dixie is mega speedy and as such pretty much impossible to get a good picture of, this was the second visit to her home on Winter Tarn farm that we had tried and the pictures just don't do her justice. Her owners are the wonderful Jackson family, who's super tasty organic dairy goods keep my boyfriend smiling. What the mighty Cumbrian Jeremy Jackson doesn't know about cheese isn't worth knowing! Check them out on - http://www.wintertarn.co.uk/. I've already put in a request for any puppies she might have. Fingers crossed Dixie gets lucky with a local soon!
