I've long been a fan of textile artist
Pauline Burbidge's work and whilst I love a spot of quaint circa 1800's patchwork quilting as much as the next girl, for me Burbidge's
Applecross Quilt was one of the standout pieces at the Victoria & Albert Museum's exhibition,
"Quilts 1700 – 2010," last year.
As I'm moving up 'North' soon and Burbidge is based in the Scottish Borders I wondering about how the dark and broody landscape might have inspired her and the near monotone bleakness reminded of another Northern based artist Sheila Fell. I think these sit beautifully together.
